My 15yr old friend is soo obsessed with "emo" (I really don't care what you call it music genre etc.) and she really wanted the glasses. She has had perfect sight until recently and now her mom is taking her to the eye doctor to get her eyes checked could she be tricking her body to lose sight or is she just faking?

The Doctor knows after checking and nothing to feel.

That's ridiculous. If she really wants glasses, then she should get non-prescription ones. She should not trick her eyesight! If she does, she'll probably regret doing it later in life. At one time I thought glasses were cool, but I have perfect eyesight. I consider it a blessing like she should consider it. Talk to her about this.

Yes, a doctor would know if she is faking it or not.

And all this "emo" is a phase. I'm not against it, but I've been through the skater/punk phase (or so I was told) and I tend to not go as extreme as I use to be. I started that when I was 13. (Now 17.) Punk for life, but not my image. She'll grow out of the outlook one day.

there is a 50% chance she's faking and a 50% chance she's not. Sometimes wearing glasses you don't need can damage eyes, so thats the reason if she isn't faking. Although, she could be pretending because she wants to keep the glasses, and that would be the reason if she is faking. Hope i helped!

She could just get glasses without a prescrition, but if I saw someone wearing fake glasses dressed "emo" that would look so fake. More of a poser. Most people at my school who dress like that don't really mean to, they just dress like that cause "they can". If she's obessing over it then thats really poser...-ish.

Her mother should be able to "read"her, and if she is oblivious to her daughters desire to own the "emo" glasses, maybe you can do your good deed of the day by suggesting to your friend to go shopping and just look for the frames.

Eyes- we are only given one pair and it is supposed to last for life. If you can, try to stop your friend from destroying hers.

No you can't trick your eyes...if she really wants to wear a certain style of glasses, she can get clear lens...it's like any other fashion.

If she wants glasses, she could just get frames with lenses with no perscription... it's hard to know if she's faking or not though.

she may really be loosing her sight or she could be lying...but if she is lying and goes in to get glasses she could really mess her vision up permanently...
