I'm thinking about naming my child Ishmael Elijah in the future.
Does it fit well with Rebekkah Ahava?

I mean Ishmael from the Bible, I have a lot admiration for him.

And Ahava is pronounced A (like Amen)-ha-va

No, as a Christian I do not like the name "Ishmael". If I were a Muslim I probably would.

Why Elijah? Is it because he was a man of God and you would like your son to be as honorable before God as he was? If that is the case, then why Ishmael? Ishmael was a rebellious man before God and nothing good is said about him in the Bible. God told his mother that he would be a wild man and he would be at war with everyone and everyone would be at war with him. That has certainly been true down through the ages. It is still that way now as the Islamic people, who trace their roots to Ishmael, are at war with the world and the world is at war with them. Do you want to call him Ishmael because you hope that he would possess the same qualities before God as he did?

What about Rebekkah Ahava? Rebekkah had good qualities and not only did she "love" her husband but she "loved" his God too. If "Ahava" means "love" in Hebrew then qualities of Rebekkah and Ahava go good together. However, Rebekkah Ahava does not fit well with Ishmael Elijah.

Why? Because Ishmael Elijah would posses the qualities of one who claims to be a godly man while his life demonstrates that he is in rebellion against God. Rebekkah Avaha would be the opposite, that is, she claims to be a godly woman and she demonstrates it by the way she lives. The two children would be directly opposite of one another in how they live for God.

More importantly, does your husband's opinion about what to name the son or daughter you two created together matter? Maybe he won't want to call either one of them the name you want to call them.

I think you should wait before you decide what to call your son or daughter should God allow you to have either one.

It's a pretty awesome name lol - I think I would've liked Elijah Ishmael instead, but I can't stand the double -ah ending that would occur with Rebekkah and Elijah. Rebekkah Ahava is a gorgeous name, by the way lol.

Both names definitely fit well together - both are really super Biblical, but thank you for not going for just the obvious ones, like Mary and Daniel or whatever lol.

Good luck and congrats!!

Ishmael & elijah both sound too biblical..can I suggest? Ivan Elijah (eye-van means john in russian) or how about just one name 'Isaiah'..no middle name Isaiah sonds like Ishmael & Elijah mixed and is an actual name but unique.
I like Rebekkah...definitely not 'Ahava' with it why?..the 'ah' at the end of Rebekkah is right next to the 'ah' at the beginning of Ahava and they both end in 'A'
How about Roxanne Ahava? or Roxie Ahava?
or a similar middle name with Rebekkah..Rebekkah Anais or Rebekkah Anouk (Anais is a variant of Anne in french so is Anouk) or Rebekkah Allie, Rebekkah Aren, Rebekkah Athene or Rebekkah Eve.
Dont worry too much about their names 'going together'.

Not so fond of Ishmael, but I do like Isaiah Mark or Isaiah John. I think Ahava is an awesome name. Doesnt it mean 'Love' in Hebrew?

I really like it, I chose it as my little brothers middle name. I think Elijah is really cute also, and it does fit well with Rebekkah Ahava.

Hmm. I think it's too connected to Moby Dick. It's nice sounding but has a "reputation" now because of that book. I love the name Elijah, though.

My husband's uncle is named Ishmael, and all the nieces and nephews call him "Ishy Baby".

I think it might not be a good choice for a name.
