ribosomes are made up of two subunits, small ribosomal subunit and large ribosomal subunit. they are encoded by rRNA

They are made up of both protein and RNA, and have two parts, a large and small subunit. For protein-RNA complexes, they are relatively big within the cell. I believe the RNA structure is the part that is most directly involved in interacting with and stabilizing protein synthesis (the function of a ribosome).
