They would review your medical history before accepting you. If there are some issues, you would be placed in a city closer to a hospital or with medical doctors near rather than in the bush. I was accepted last year, but will wait until I am 62 to go, when I am permanently retired.

Yes a disabled person may join the Peace Corps. RE: Can a disabled person join the Peace Corps? I know this is probably a ridiculous question, but....is the Peace Corps like the military, restricted only to fully able, fully healthy individulas? Or could I, as a legally blind person, join the Pe...

Talk to the Peace Corps. It may depend on the disability. How mobile are you? Do you need a lot of medication that would be hard to get to you? Maybe you could be an inspiration to someone with a disability in Africa.

I have done two complete terms in the Peace Corps. There was an 82 year old man the first time.....so get going people! Age is no excuse! There are married people and people of all sorts. We had a young man who was partially crippled. I have hypertension but it was controlled and was no problem. If you are adventurous do apply! It is likely that you are needed.

Depends. I know that they take seniors. I checked into it a little before I met my husband. I was tired of the dating game and hated my job. I have always had a desire to do something to help society. They provide housing and meals. I don't remember much else about it. Google them and take a look. There are lots of places to go besides Africa. Have you considered volunteering close to home?

Trust me, you do NOT want to go to Africa for 1 week, let alone 5 years...the AIDS/Hunger problems there put the strongest on the floor with pity. Africa is in a very sorry state, everyone I know who has gone there to help has come back a changed person, and not for the better. You would be surrounded with babies born with HIV, to watch them die quickly for lack of meds, the health standards are so sub-par and you are basically helpless to do anything about it....very frustrating, to say the least. Depends on the disability. If its something with ongoing medications, probably not, since medication especially those needing refrigeration, will be hard to get to you. And maybe stolen on the black market on the way to you.
