Nietzsche wrote this controversial saying in "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" in its prologue. You have to understand that he wrote this unliterally. What he's trying to prove is that God is the main influence upon mankind for they beleive in him as an omnipotent power. This makes man discredit himself which is a thing Nietzsche was strongly against. he looks at God being dead as a resolution to Man's problem of not moving forward and caring for himself and not giving himself enough credit. Killing God gives no boundary to mankind letting him strive for the greatest possible thing he can imagine.

Nietzsche was far ahead of his time with the concept of the death of God. His ideal here was following alot of scientific discovery, especially in biology, like mendel's hereditary genes, and Darwins Origins of Species. Nietzsche is say that with this new discovery and examination of life, that the 'God hypothesis' had been solved, that God was killed by our new understanding. God has been a crutch for so long, as an excuse for the things mankind couldnt understand, but now that it all comes to light, it isnt necessary any longer.

I do not know if I agree with the idea. It all depends of what do you mean.
At the time Nietzsche wrote, people were, shall I say, less religious than in previous centuries. He coined the phrase as a way to point out this situation.

Nietzsche died a syphilitic death. That sexual disease attacks the brain. He had to have had the disease for a long time for it to kill him. So you take his philosophy from there. Was he brain dead when he wrote that, or just delusional in his sexually transmitted disease of the brain?
GOD IS NOT DEAD.
He is alive and well and still in control of the universe and all that lays beyond the borders of the universe.

No. Non-theistic philosophy is about study, reasoning and indeed pondering, based on maxims whereas theistic philosophy is based on belief. Never the twain shall meet.
God is dead (non-existent) to those who chose not to believe. Those who chose to believe see God as 'alive' (existing).

NO, 'God' as an 'Supreme Being' Never Existed.
It is only a 'Figment of Diseased Imagination', accepted by many and spread by those Who WANT Something
