what procedures can I follow to also destroy incriminating evidence in the event some should request such evidence?

You can chat with Ollie North, he was very good at running an illegal war and shredding the evidence of it. And then you can pull a Reagan, and say "I don't know or I don't recall" dozens of times. Worked well for them.

You sneak into the Congressional Library, break into cabinets and stuff files down your pants. Run like hell, get caught shreadding the documents you stole and wait for Bill to pardon you!

You are confused. It has already been established that the CIA had the right to destroy tapes. There is no criminal action, so the tapes are not "evidence" per se.
