More than likly from other people's plays and stories. Romeo and Juliet is stolen from a Italian play.

Roman and Greek Myths! Pretty much every culture has a story that is similar to those that Shakespeare wrote.

Old Will stole most of his plots from other things. He got his ideas from his schooling where he read Roman plays and history. He got his ideas from other plays and stories. He got his ideas from seeing traveling acting companies. He got his ideas from folklore and legend. He got his ideas from his travels. He was a keen observer of the human condition and he knew a good story when he heard or saw or read it. Then he turned those stories into his plays.
