writing styles?

is there any certain style of writing? Because I find when I write I'm different than other people but would that matter if I wanted to publish a book. And I try to show what's going on more than telling. just wondering.

To have your own kind of writing style is a good thing. If you don't, you sound just like every other author. It's the the Gossip Girl and Ttyl series, they all sound alike. So, if you have your own writing style, then that sets you apart.

And it's great that you're showing instead of telling, because I've read books where they tell, tell, tell and I'm always stumped as to how it got published.

The reason there are so many writers is because each writer has their own style -- in the world of writers its called the writers "voice". A writer doesn't find their voice until they work hard, and have written lots of stories...

Sure it makes a difference when you submit material... If you 'sound' like all other writers, who would the publisher be interested in your work... Be Unique, Be Different, and keep working at writing (and keep showing, not telling)...

You should try to say want you want to say in a straightforward way. People who try to hard to have a 'style' usually end up as jst being pretentious. The fact that you try to show things rather than just using a narrative that tells us what's happening suggests to me that you are on the right track as a writer.

There are many styles of writing, and every author tends to have his or her own. (Think of Faulkner and Hemingway.) So it certainly shouldn't matter if yours is different from that of most people. That fact may just mean that your style is distinctive!

Writers have there own unique way of writing that's what makes a writer. Just keep writing.
