truthfully... none ANY turtle even the smallest turtles map turtles andd such take at LEAST a 30 gallon tank but depending on where you live you may not be able to buy map turtles you should be able to buy red ear sliders YET thye are 12 inches female fully grown AT LEAST a 75 gallon 125 better and males reach 8 inches needing at LEAST a 55.
Good Luck : )

if it were me i would go for a snake or a gecko of some sort, because geckos need limited space, i would recommend a leopard gecko or an african fat tail gecko. REMEMBER ALWAYS study-do your homework on the animal you plan to get and have the habitat set up BEFORE you get the animal.

Good Luck Please Go To ------------- RepticZone.com

Turtles and tortoises are not good 'limited space' animals- they are all about having big spaces, and since they cannot climb, the space needs to be spread out.

The rule of thumb for space is 100 square inches of space per inch of tortoise minimum, or 10 gallons of water per inch of shell for water turtles.

Then, the Salmonella issue makes them a less than perfect pet for younger children- they take a lot of care and money, cannot be handled, and as they age, get less and less cute and active.
