Positive effects are slight because people got booze anyway for the most part. Negative effects the prohibition bred organized crime and bootlegging that led to violence, also a lot of people have died from bad home made hooch.

what positive and negative effect do prohibition have?

Negative effects would be that it would encourage people to break the law. It takes away human rights to drink, creates gang culture... can't think of anymore.
Positive effects would be that less people would display open drunkeness in the streets.

negative: speakeasies, gangsters, a very large amount of death due to the government & gangsters

positive: People (both men and women) now go to bars, bars which have things like ‘cut off’ rules.

True, we did have to go through mob controlled liquor distribution and Americans now drink hard liquor whereas before it was mostly beer, but, to a large extent, Prohibition was a necessary and successful piece of public policy

The positives of prohibition were basicall medical and social. There was less disease associated with alcohol, and there was less violence from alcohol related incidents.
The negative was that there was a great loss to the nation's tax revenue. You can research it yourself from here.

No positive effects that I can think of. It raised crime levels, empowered moonshiners and created a hole underground of pain and suffering.

People would argue there was an upside that less people drank, but statistics from that era do not support that theory.

Obviously prohibition slightened alcohol related deaths and illnesses. Prohibition became a huge mob oriented big business. They made millions and lived and died over the whole illegal alcohol swindels they did.......Alot of industries lost their money and livelihood during this era as well.....

Almost entirely negative. The 18th Amendment is the only amendment ever to be repealed, and only 14 years after its adoption. That's says a lot.
