Actually, you would be surprised to know they actually do have a point!!!
The pores in our eyebrows are what prevent the sweat from entering our eyes. The sweat from our foreheads get's absorbed into our eyebrows so they don't interfere in our eyesight.

I would imagine that they are left from when humans had a lot more hair way long ago. Some kind of protection that we needed back then. Evolution took care of the rest.

To show expressing
Eyebrows are a very significant aspect of our appearance. They are one of the most distinctive features that make up our faces, and we pay a lot of attention to them. We think of some types of eyebrows as attractive and some as unattractive, and many people spend as much time preening their eyebrows as they do applying makeup to their eyelashes or lips. Eyebrows are also one of our most expressive facial features. One of the clearest ways to tell somebody what you're thinking is to simply move your eyebrows up or down -- we all know what different eyebrow positions mean.

What do you mean by "do" your eyebrows? There are a couple different methods to taking care of them. One is waxing, which can be painful depending upon your skin's sensititivity, not to mention--one slip-up and half of your eyebrow can be gone. I've gotten mine waxed a lot, but lately I've preferred just tweezing. As for knowing how much to tweeze, hold a pencil up the side of your nose, and where the pencil meets your forehead is how long your eyebrows should stretch to. Then hold the pencil from the corner of your eye towards your hairline, and that's the other boundary for your brow. Not to mention, there are templates you can get to make sure you don't over-tweeze, and magazines you can read that feature articles about shaping your eyebrows. But the main problem here is that you would be doing these things against your mother's word. Try talking to her calmly, saying that you won't over-do the tweezing, and not do anything drastic. Hopefully, she'll change her mind and allow you to experiment a bit with shaping.
