...the value. It is a 1986 1/2 oz gold Panda. Those in the know will understand. It is proof and untouched as when I bought it.
Also, where would be the best place to try and sell it to get the best return?

Of the 1980's 1/2 oz. Panda proofs it is not the lowest mintage but has a mintage of around 70,000 which is about the 3rd lowest. A coin dealer will pay billion value for it and not be interested in the collector value. Yes some people actually collect them by year. There must be some on eBay so that may give you an idea of value. Go by the coins date when checking eBay. A company called Panda America is a U.S. dealer of them so you may have to do a google check for their web site and see what they offer. You would do best selling it to a collector of Pandas. I collect Chinese coins but only the ones cast under it's Emperors. Hope this helps some.
