I have to write a preliminary research proposal for a psych class... i have to formulate a research study but i am STUMPED,, i cant come up with a good study. any suggestions??? please!!
(i have to organize a study, for example another classmate is doing hers on 'perceived gender' where she has babies pictures, places names next to them and gets opinions on whether people think the baby is a boy or a girl'... i am trying to come up with something more interesting that that! best answer 10 points!!

I don't know if this would work for your purposes but there is a subject I would love to see investigated. But, if you use this, I want a copy of the results.
I would like to know how many people are like me. I was diagnosed with clinical depression and took at least 5 different anti-depressants. I was in treatment for years and finally stopped because it wasn't working. The only people who benefited from my drug induced ambivalence and jocularity were those around me. I always felt like a big chunk of me was suppressed. I felt like a door mat with everyone wiping their feet on me and me just smiling about it like some kind of a village idiot. Since quitting I have returned to the old me, willing and able to call those who want to just use me. I am much better rounded but alas, still depressed. I must be very careful about sliding into a rut too deep to climb out of. Suicidal thoughts are with me most of the time since stopping the medicine.
Do you think you can work that situation into a study? Remember, I want the results if you do. Just keep my screen name as I take email at my profile. I will be happy to supply my address so you can send the whole report. I will even submit to interviews if you like.
I am as serious as a heart attack, I will help as much as I possibly can if you decide to take on the task.

How about perceived gender roles within society? There are a couple of differnet levels upon which you could organize your study: 1) society views of masculine or assertive females in the workplace, epecially those in "male dominant careers", 2) society views of stay-at-home dads and conversely 3) female head of household where the man manages the home and the woman is the sole breadwinner.

I have done many papers on controversial issues. A few I have done with many aspects of the topic and lots of information are Global Warming, Paying College Athletes, Gun Control, The Legalization of Marijuana, or if uniforms or no dress code should be instated in schools. I have done lots of studying on all sides of these issues and I recommend going to the library and utilizing the librarian, reading encyclopedia, or using a reliable internet source (not wikipedia).
