Ive heard it is a shorter time if you work more. I've also heard it is the same amount of time. Is it a work at your own pace kind of thing? Thanks in advance!

A bachelor's degree requires about 120 semester hours. It's misleading that we call that a 4-year degree. Don't think in terms of "years" but instead in terms of credit hours. The bachelor's requires 120 semester hours if you take 10 years to do it too.

Most people take 4-5 years to get 120 semester hours but you can take less time at almost any college (online or not) by:

1) no breaks -- no summer break and no spring break and if your college has a semester, no Christmas break. Most schools offer more than 2 semesters, it's just that most students like that long spring and summer break.

2) max course load -- full-time is 12 hours (4 courses) and most students average 15 hours (5 courses). Most colleges will allow you to take as many as 21 and 18 is not at all uncommon.

3) test out of basics -- if you have the skills and knowledge, you can eliminate about 30 hours of your college requirements using standardized testing such as CLEP/DANTES/AP

Let's say you do #1 and attend 3 semesters a year and you also do #2 and max at 19 hours average per semester. You'd complete 57 hours per year. If your bachelor's requires 120 hours (as most do) then 120/57 = 2.1 years. If you tested out of 30 hours too then you'd be looking at 90/57 = 1.57 years.

It works this way at every college (online or not). Caution though - there's a reason that most people who try this sort of acceleration never graduate. This is akin to having a full time job and working overtime every single day.

All college is a work at your own pace, whether you go to an acutal university or online school. Please listen to the advice on here and stay away from an online degree! Take online classes at a university but DO NOT go to an online university! You will regret it
