"The Bush administration told a federal judge it was not obligated to preserve videotapes of CIA interrogations of suspected terrorists and urged the court not to look into the tapes' destruction." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071215/ap_on_go_pr_wh/cia_videotapes
They still have records of my 1972 speeding ticket on file, why not these tapes?

What, you guys missed the part about "evidence and information regarding the torture, mistreatment, and abuse of detainees?" fine, but how can you miss the part about this is in regard to the principles in the terrorist attack on america?

The truth is, they don't want knowledge of the widespread torture and Renditions that are taking place with the full knowledge and support of the thugs in this Administration.
They will claim National Security and halt any investigation they can, and I wonder if the federal judge will tell them to go fly a kite. I don't like the idea of Bush or his Justice Department telling our courts what to do. The courts have greater jurisdiction than the executive branch and let's hope that judge doesn't let them get away with their secretive, shifty moves.
Tapes destroyed, one million missing e-mails....and Heaven knows what's going through the shredding machine. How stupid does Bush think the American people are? He can fool a few loyalists, who excuse his every imperialistic move, but he cannot fool them all!

CIA FBI each agency has a long history of working on their own with no boundaries. Such was the case pre 9-11 as neither one compared notes during the Clinton administration. Back to Hoover reigning in them has been a Presidential nightmare. Abusing the privilege has also worked. In my opinion, if truth where told how long the "members" involved had been around
that would offer some new insight. But, blame Bush during a Presidential campaign?! When a Clinton wants in and Democrats want a monopoly from Hill to House. Politics as usual.
I agree we have been safer since the agencies were evaluated after 9-11. I firmly believe Bush inherited alot more from WJ than we anticipated. Now there is a prime example of 30 yrs of removed, stolen & altered documents. Nobody does it better than Clinton's.

The Bush admin. are no better than some of the African/Asian/S. American dictators that we hear so much about, torture, prisoner abuse and total disregard for prisoners' rights. In my mind there's no doubt that the tortures inflicted on the prisoners were so horrible that they have to destroy them (the tapes). If that's not enough they are now tampering with the Justice Dept. I won't rule out the possibility that they may go as far as arresting the Judges and replacing their own if they haven't done so already on the basis of being terrorists, sympathisers, security or whatever is convenient., Torture is not an excuse for the purpose of extracting information because there are "truth" drugs and lie detectors available. The day won't be far off when even I may be arrested and tortured for voicing my opinions, heaven forbid.

Whoever it is I'd like to buy him a beer. While you wring your hands over suspected torturing of terrorists I rejoice in the knowledge that we have not been attacked again since 9/11/2001. I don't really care what it takes to get the information we need. We have stopped 32 plots against us. Probably many more we don't even know about. Even George Tenet who is super critical of President Bush says they have gotten tons of information from waterboarding. So you go cry over your little terrorists and every time I see kids playing safely in the streets I will thank Bush and the CIA.

Interesting twist. Never thought of that, but that's why we have "think tanks". I suggest you look up a book called "Understanding the Times" Voume1 by William Grady. Even O'rielly stated there was no reason. Which you have to find intersting, but we are not in the "know".

This is a tempest in a teapot, a ruse to disguise the liberal democrat's true agenda. They keep throwing stupid things against the wall, hoping something will stick. Don't know what a 35 year old speeding ticket has to do with anything, and what makes you think this is crucial state security evidence? The liberal agenda perhaps?

Simple: because the welfare state is the largest voting demographic for liberals and thus the democratic party. Welfare is not all bad and some deserve it, but a majority of the recipients and the system itself is corrupt, abused, and redundant and addictive. I guess when you can use your welfare check for smokes, booze, tattoo's, at the strip club and for lap dances it's just free money. 30 years ago to be on welfare was a badge of shame now for the last 10 years it's a multi-generational badge of honor and a rite of passage. Want to see a welfare state; look at Greece and Spain Why are they hurting? There are jobs out there, Most American's that are on welfare aren't looking or trying very hard and don't want to. Most of the jobs they believe are beneath them and welfare pays better. 99 weeks lying around on welfare or unemployment, that's not helping..99 weeks could be an associates degree if you choose to get off your couch. You want welfare fine, pass a drug test, and bring in job applications and interview paperwork that you actually went to. What's amazing to me is that a teacher who is in a union makes $40,000 a year when the Union that supposedly represents her it's leadership is making $500,000 a year, but the democrats either don't mention it or don't have an issue with that. WTF happened?

Umm, the CIA did this without WH consent. Of course, it's also raining today and I'm sure that's Bush's fault as well.
