u would want to pick someone who has the strengths u don't. marrying a person who has the same weaknesses as u do will never work, because your both going to see life the same with the same weaknesses. being similar in likes works better than being with someone who doesn't share your likes.

You have asked a very good question and one that could heat up a debate. Some people love a good argument. However, simularities have good and bad as well as opposites. There is no clear cut guarantee that your opposite or your simular will work best for you. What does work is to whom you are in love with. Why? Because when you truely love someone, you can accept thier differences. You don't have to like it, but, you respect it. In simularities the pendulem can swing wide between too much and too little. Either way the balance is the love shared and if you have enough of that you can work though anything.

Well it all depends on what areas you are dealing with. In the area of gender you should both be opposite. In the area of core values and beliefs you should be similar. And everything else falls somewhere in between. And in the case of marriage make sure there is a lot of giving back and forth in the in between areas

My husband and I are similar and opposite at the same time. In a way, I think it allows us to become balanced and whole. When I get upset, he instinctively has a calming nature... and he can calm me down quickly. I guess it just depends on the couple and if they are willing to accept the other as who they truly are.

Being opposites brings a lot of balance and interest to the relationship. The things you need to be the same about are your core values... marriage, family, children, religion, education level, etc.

It depends...you can have thing in common and not in common...its not like EVERYTHING is going to be the same. that would be a boring relationship..."opposites attract" ...so i guess id say that opposites would be better but not to much different cause that could cause problems.

You need a bit of both. Your differences keep things interesting but your similarities keep you together.
