How often do we see this?
People who are comfortable with a mediocre white male, (no matter who, but must be white) and reason like this are NEVER going to vote for a Black or a woman.
Opinions?

Even though we American's seem to think we are so advanced, we are behind even the developing countries when it comes to women in politics. It is shocking. Why women don't start complaining is beyond me, we make up the MAJORITY!

As far as a black president, yes, it is time for more minorities to be a part of the process. But again, we are still dealing with racism in the country as much as ever, not much has changed.

I am very sick and tired of the rich, corrupt, pastey-white old men that are the usual candidates that get elected. Clinton I believe was one of the youngest since JFK.

We need a big change in the White House, this election is the time.

People will vote for a black person or a woman. Could even be this time. I think you're right in that a lot of people just SAY they would because they don't want to sound racist or sexist, but they say "Oh not this time..." as a cop out. There are genuinely people who hate Hillary.

I find that most of the time they can't give an actual reason, but people are entitled to their opinions.

As for Obama, he seems pretty popular. Most of the people who hate him only hate him because he has a little (D) next to his name.

I see that all the time. But Hillary is a woman who I don't like as our president. She is too desperate, and a lot of dirty politics are happening now that she is slipping in the polls.

Obama however is a very good candidate who I feel comfortable voting for.

I think those people who immediately close off two intelligent candidates because of their race and/or gender probably voted for good ol' Georgie. People need to see beyond gender and race. Who is the better person (if you're voting for one of these guys) to run the country? Who is intelligent and has all Americans in mind? Who is going to run our country with the separation of church and state like it should be? Questions like that are at the top of my list...not, should I vote for a woman or a black man.

I agree 100%. People that make statements like that usually are full of you know what and those that aren't are just plain ignorant because you also here them say that they would vote for a woman that is even more incompetent than Bush, Dr. Rice. She has accomplish nothing as Secretary of State other than disseminating false information to the public.

I think people will be against Obama and Clinton for those reasons. But I also believe women will vote for Clinton just because shes a woman. And the blacks will vote for Obama, because he isn't white.

We vote, when we do vote, to chose the least repugnant of the two choices available. If you want hell on earth, you would vote against a woman or a black man to put a Baptist preacher in the White House.

I can tell you that one thing I've learned is anyone who starts a sentence with "I'm not prejudiced, but..." is prejudiced. Racism and sexism run deep in our country, and voting for female and African-American candidates is a good way to change that.
