It seems so nobel of Bush to help Iraq reestablish their 1400 year old Shar'i law.

Uncle Troll

Just review the News of Basra. It only took 3 days from the time the Britts left for Shari Law enforcement to take hold of the community.

So far over a dozen women have been killed in Basra for not wearing a Hajib. Also several barbers were killed and all barber shops have closed.

I think US trooops are targets anyway, maybe this will be a new reason for the extremists.
According to the survey, women's basic rights under the Hussein regime were guaranteed in the constitution and - more importantly - respected, with women often occupying important government positions. Now, although their rights are still enshrined in the national constitution, activists complain that, in practice, they have lost almost all of their rights.
Women's groups point to the new government, many members of which take a conservative view when it comes to the role of women. "When we tell the government we need more representation in parliament, they respond by telling us that, if well-qualified women appear one day, they won't be turned down," said Senar. "Then they laugh at us."

Islamists are imposing the traditional Islamic dress code on women, and the general climate of lawlessness causes many women to adopt it for self-protection. “Dalal Jabbar, 19, a resident of Sadr City, a poor Shiite Muslim neighborhood in Baghdad, said Iraqi women are more afraid today than ever before. ‘There is no law to rule the country,’ she said. ‘I see the scarves as the best way to protect ourselves in Iraq now. When I walk in the street, I know I’ll have no trouble, because men prefer to look at others without a scarf, more than me.’”

No one can defend the evil that has come down on the Iraqis and women in particular in the name of spreading freedom and Democracy. This exposes George W Bush once again for the total hypocrite he is. Saddam was very much an equal opportunity opressor not a Muslim fanatic once again showing the Iraq invasion had no place in the war on terror. America replaced a brutal but secular regime with leaders who they would call if it were anywhere else Muslimfascists.

"For too long, many nations, including my own, tolerated, even excused, oppression in the Middle East in the name of stability. Oppression became common, but stability never arrived. We must take a different approach. We must help the reformers of the Middle East as they work for freedom, and strive to build a community of peaceful, democratic nations. "
George W. Bush, Speech to UN General Assembly, September 21, 2004

Can anyone still deny US foreign policy under the Neocons is morally bankrutp?

Many people do not realize that before Bush bestowed "Democracy" on and "liberated" the Iraqis, women, the Iraqis who chose the Christian Religion, and the population in general had more freedom. I don't think that Sahri law will be enacted on our troops, but I get your point.
