You know like in the cartoons? Wouldn't it be cool to be taking a cruise and some one points to the sky and says either that's a weird blimp or a flying whale beneath a huge pink balloon?

And birds wouldn't be able to pop the bubble cause they'd just get stuck.

Gee, you know I looked at my question to make sure and there it was IF and LIKE A CARTOON, I guess that is too easy for some to understand, but what the heck their answers are fun too!!

What a hoot! You have a wonderful gift for imagining really far out stuff, but an even greater gift for covering all the possibilities that the naysayers like to come up with (like why the birds can't pop it!). Sit down right now and start writing some kids' books - I'll buy them! Every time I try to come up with an idea for a fantasy, I immediately sabotage myself with all the, "No, that won't work, because....."

Fun Question. Hot air balloons provide lift because the hot air is less dense than the surrounding air. That is, for a given size balloon, the difference in weight between the balloon and the air it displaces becomes lift. Therefore, a bubblegum bubble could indeed lift a whale if the air exhaled by the whale was warmer than the atmosphere. It would just have to be big enough, and formed quickly enough that it wouldn't cool off.

No the whale could not rise above the Earth because Carbon Dioxide ( what humans and ALL animals exhale) is heavier than Oxygen (the element compromising MOST of the planets atmosphere) Only if the gas were Helium or Hydrogen.
Sorry to burst your bubble.

Some whales actually have teeth, and therefore could chew gum if they wanted to.
But even a whale sized bubble would not float--it might have some buoyancy if the air was warm, but not enough to lift even the lightest of the toothed whales.
There are 69 species of toothed whales, including sperm whales Physeter catodon, beluga whales Delphinapterus leucas, and narwhals Monodon monoceros. Bottlenose dolphins Tursiops truncatus, and killer whales Orcinus orca are in this group as well. Toothed whales have one blowhole (adapted nostril) on top of the head that divides into two nostrils inside the head. They use echolocation to find food. These whales eat fish, octopus, squid, and crustaceans like shrimp

No, it would not. Please note, if you blow a very small bubble from gum, it will nto float. It stands to reason that unless the whatle, through some sort of un-natural experiment, was exhaling helium or some other lighter than air gas, the bubble would simply fall over the whale. And plug his air hole. And he'd DIE. How could you kill this innocent whale?! You should be ashamed!

HAHAHAHHA that is hilarious!....feed the whale some helium, and then have him blow the bubble...otherwise you'd just have a giant pink beachball floating in the ocean!

I hope that whale floats over my house today. The sky is so drab it really could use some pink color. BTW... what kind of whale is it? I hope it's not camouflaged by the grey sky. Wally... you crack me up!

that would be sweet, but unless the whale filled the bubble with helium, it wouldn't rise. hmm... maybe you could fill a piece of bubblegum with helium though...i should try that out.
lol...great question.

Like all cartoons, the humor would be what was written in the balloon --- maybe it'd just be an advertisement.
