Well I think if you log onto Martha Stewart's website or pick up her magazine or book(s) you will see some of the best. Martha rocks! : )

Traditional favorites for nibbling and drinking; well made egg nog (go easy on the booze), wassa (sp?), hot cocoa made with high quality chocolate and have several little containers filled with homemade marshmallows, peppermint candies, etc. to put into the cocoa.

To eat; sliced ham and turkey (if you want to be fancy duck!) put out some great chibata square sandwich breads, some veggie platter with dipping containers of Ranch dressing and oil and vinegar.

Decorations; lots of greens--holly, mistletoe (both poisoness so make sure they are where children and pets can't get to them), cut from trees outside your home any evergreens. Right now you can find beautiful wreaths of fresh greens available or make your own, I do! Have a great looking tree, festive little decorated trees on tables throughout the house.
Keep it simple and elegant, nothing tacky and over done.

Have fun!
