Yeah, that's the main reason why I hate Ovechkin.

He plays in DC people don't give a flying leap about hockey so the 1000 or 2000 people actually in the stands need a shot in the arm to get out of their seats.
Zetterbeg? watch Canada Cup 87 and see how Vladimir Krutov celebrates I don't think his pulse gets over 60.
Zetterberg? again Pavel Datsyuk actually scores nice goals like #8 and doesn't throw any cellys.
Z-Berg is a good player but most of his goals are pretty funky but hey they don't ask how just how many

If every player was that excited after scoring a goal, maybe there would be more goal scorers out there. I'm not an Ovechkin fan, but I love to see players who score and act like that goal was their very first. Every goal is important no matter wheather the team is winning or losing.

You know they all get a little carried away what if basketball players did that (oh they do) what if football players did that(my bad) how about a homerun every sport have the same problem after a score anymore the only time i would let it side would be a boring *** soccer game other than that smile and go on with the game if he got crosschecked during a celebration he would quit

With a team like the Caps,i would celebrate like that too. I dont have a problem with him. Why dont you score a goal for a team that never does and try and hold it in?? Did you see how cheech used to celebrate after every single goal?? After a while i would wonder if it started getting old, but i would change my mind every time he scores. It just makes it more interesting

I personaly dont get motivated, seeing a teammate act like an a$$ when he scores. If someone I was playing against did that, he would be looking forward to a nice shot in the ribs, or an elbow in the ear, the next time we came together. If you want to try to be bigger than the game, the game will get you hurt. Have respect for the game, the respect comes in return to you. To a hotdog player, the doesnt make any sense.

Ovechkin is a Russian ... he's arrogant, conceded, egotistical, and self-absorbed ... he's also a great player. Personally, I don't like the "all about me" kind of celebration that is common in the NBA and NFL. I like that hockey players USUALLY just raise an arm and then have a group "hug" after a goal. Although literal hockey fans, like me, prefer the Ysermans, Selannes, and even Crosbys selfless celebrations, alas, to "keep up with the times," and to compete with other national sports, hockey may need to get some "glitter." How sad.

Because he has scored before and he will score many more times again. And because he plays with passion. More passion than Zetterberg ever has. Maybe that's why Henrik hasn't led the Wings to a Cup? And just to piss you and most people here off; Red Wings SUUUUUUCKK!!!!!
~
Copas, just like we owned you guys one Thursday, we shall own you today lol. And I wish I was going, but my games will probably be limited to the Wings games. I've only been to the home opener this season, money's tight.
~~
AMDD: you can't "kcock" him for celebrating?? Sounds strange......
COPAS: Psshhh whatever, the goal horn will sound many times tonight!

how would you react if you scored a nhl goal??
yes, i know he is a pro and a very good one at that but if he want's to get excited about scoring a goal that's just the way he is.
also, i'm a big soccer fan and you should see some of the goal celebrations, Ovechkin is quite reserved compared to some i've seen

Aww let him have his fun.
It's not like he taunts the other team. He doesn't do end zone dances. He doesn't get two inches from the camera and start screaming his head off. He doesn't act like he is an objectively superior human being to everybody else. He just gets really happy and lets it all out. Some guys keep a straight face, some don't. I don't see the problem.
