On rare occasions Tampa Bay Florida can get hurricanes wheather if it is a sub-tropical system before or after the Atlantic Hurricane season. Or even if it is during the Atlantic hurricane season. Tampa Bay Florida can get hurricanes any time.

LOL. The rumor that I have heard all of my life is that there is some sort of hemispheric bubble which repells hurricanes, but it's not true. Tampa Bay has a shot as well as anyone of getting a hurricane -- which, if you are prepared, aren't too bad. I rode out plenty when I lived in both Bradenton and Miami, and you get used to it. I slept through Charlie, Wilma, Katrina.... Well, you get the point. Just have a battery powered fan, non perishable foods and lots of water.
I love my hometown, but there are some downsides. I don't know what industry you are in, but the job market is fairly tight for the last few years. Before I went back to school, I looked for months for a job (I had a Bachelor's at this point) and the only thing that is out there was stuff that you had to be specialized in, or stuff that I was over qualified for and underpaid for. Also, insurance (renter's or homeowners's -- which you should have for above mentioned hurricanes) is high. Traffic is pretty awful because I-75, I-4 and I-275 are all too small for all of the traffic that goes over them and public transportation is more a dream than reality.
That said, the housing market is tanking, so getting a home for cheap if you have good credit is fairly easy. There aren't a whole lot of rentals in general (well, there are, but less than demand), so they can be hard to find. People are generally friendly, the weather is wonderful, there are always plenty of things to do, some of the best beaches in the world, etc. I miss it a lot now that I am going to school in the north, but as before mentioned job market is so poor, I may not be able to move back after grad school.

not true. tampa bay has a very good chance of having a hurricane. we've lucked out the for a long time, but the truth is we are one of the more vulnerable spots in florida.
Housing is pretty expensive, but there are a lot of things to do and it's above 70 degrees right now. winter is about 2 weeks long down here. our sports teams are the best here and overall it's a good place to be.

The tampa bay area is by no means immune to hurricanes. Katrina was supposed to hit tampa, but instead swung up and headed for new orleans. But on a more positive note, since tampa is located in the middle of the state on the gulf side, chances are slim that it will sustain major hurricane activity. I used to live in the area, and its quite nice, there are plenty of things to do and see. If you have the chance, swing by ybor city at night, plenty of clubs, bars, shops, and restaurants to keep you busy for hours.

such as you I lived in Florida and moved to Tennessee. listed under are some issues that i do no longer omit approximately Florida: snow birds you recognize what i'm speaking approximately, hurricanes, the rain ordinary, the cost of residing it is pushed up by making use of snow birds lol, assets taxes, extreme application charges, undesirable roads in maximum places correct out of city, getting sand everywhere lol, the warmth those are purely the a number of issues that i do no longer omit. I omit the sea maximum of all. I nonetheless go down there on trip approximately as quickly as each and every 3 or 4 years.
