Man, I came into a copy of that, and I never knew Johnny had done it. His rich vocals are so great and so familiar that it's almost just as good a rendition as Don Gibson himself! Vern Gosdin did a respectable cover of the song, but Johnny Bush's vocal style and arrangement style really do the song justice, I think. Has anyone else run across this?

Yes I have several of his cd's. I consider Johnny Bush and his Bandaleros Texas best kept secret. He sure is one of a kind. And I highly recomend seeing him do a show.

I have never heard his version, but Johnny Bush doesn't even know the meaning of "slouch". He does a tremendous job on anything I've ever heard him sing. If I can find it, I'm gonna get it.

No. I did notice Johnny did "Whiskey River" the same year (1972) that Don Gibson got "Woman" to #1.

Yes Dan you are so on the money. Johnny did a fabulous job on the song. Reckon that's why he is known as the Country Caruso.
