Hi frnds for eg: i hav a P4 1.5 GHZ processor , i think it means that one instruction is executed by the microprocessor in 1/(1.5*10^9)sec ,plz correct me if i am wrong........

Hi. The number refers to the clock speed. Very few instructions are executed in a single clock cycle.

As Cirric stated, your 1.5GHZ processor can complete 1 500 000 000 single cycle instructions every second. However, most computer instructions take way more than 1 cycle!
