Some exams or test they give you mind altering drugs for.
For instance if you are having an endoscopy, they give you a little valium to relax you, and make you comfortable, some eye exams they give you eye drops to relax the eye and let them see further into the eyeball.
Now with eye drops you should not drive, with valium (for the endoscopy) you should not drive. And I know, lots of people drive on prescription valium, but that is not the amount you get for and endoscopy.
There is no reason you could not take a taxi to the appointment, unless the Doctor wants you to have someone with you, to watch you and make sure you get home alright.
They might be going to give you a test that required a small amount of pain medication. In that case, you do not want to take a taxi home and fall asleep half way there. The taxi driver, is in fact a stranger to you. You will need someone who will make sure you get in the house, and can help you lie down, if needed.
Ask a parent, a cousin, or a trusted friend to drive you there and home.

If it's an eye appointment their probably going to dialate your eyes. If it's a doctors appointment their probably going to give you some anesthia or strong medicine that would effect your ability to drive of make good decisions. Look in your local phone book for a medical van available in your area. Look under TRANSPORTATION SERVICES or call your local Family services office and ask them. If that fails-call the doctors office and explain your problem to them and I'm sure they will help you. Good luck.

How about using a taxi or having a friend drive you?
