Overall the article seems quite correct to me and certainly doesn't carry the bias of the popular conservative press in America.

People tend to put down press such as the Peace Reporter and it is an uphill climb for them to get confidence from the American public.

I suggest you read reports from Canada -- CBC, CTV, Global and watch archives of such programs as 'The Fifth Estate' and 'W5".

Also, read the archives of the BBC and stay up to date with their streaming pod casts.

Also, Norway, Finland, Russia (yes they too have opinions), Australia, Italy you know. Get points of view from all over the world.

Okay. That you should not believe everything you read. Peacereporter.net is not unbiased at all. By the way, the 7,000+ who have died in Iraq in 2007 includes ALL DEATH IN IRAQ. Old age, etc.

You want a real taste of what is going on, talk to soldiers in Iraq, but only those who enlisted after this war started...they went to serve the country and are not pissed off because they only joined for the bonus and had to go to Iraq. If you do not know any soldiers, try this. Geraldo and John Murtha went to Iraq within the last month. Both are rabid anti-war liberals. Both came back reporting how much progress we have seen in Iraq since the surge.

Stop reading rabidly partisan websites...you will never get truth there.

tcz...Okay, here are some numbers for you.
In 2000 the total of all deaths in Iraq were 6.6 deaths per 1000 people.
In 2006 the total of all deaths in Iraq were 5.7 deaths per 1000 people.
The total deaths in Iraq in 2007 (projected) 5.3 deaths per 1000 people.
So your claim that these deaths are American related are not either ignorance based or biased.

What went through my head...

1. This article was written 9 months ago, so it's old news.
2. It is a subjective piece where opinions were presented along with facts in such a way as to hide the opinions or represent them falsely as facts
3. The "facts" are of questionable value, as no back-up or sources were given - how can the writer diferentiate between who are really civilians and who are terrorists?? On what basis does the writer judge?

The two previous answerers seem biased. There are no opinions in the article referenced and it is no more than a body count.
The death from old age may account for 10% of that figure but, your stipulation does not deter from certain fact; great amounts of PEOPLE are dying because America has a better that thou attitude. Let's face it folks, expeditionary wars kill people for no reason. As taxpayers, we are responsible for each and every life lost.
