No Vince McMahon--who built Pro Wrestling into the third most watched sport in the World, has simultaneoulsy, by driving out the competitors and independents, and turning wrestling into a soap opera that's getting dumber and dumber as time goes on--has ruined wrestling. Long gone are the types of matches you had with the likes of Ric Flair and Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat who'd cut all that BS out and just got in the ring and stomped each others butts!
The wrestling was primary and the storylines built around it secondary. Now the story line is primary and the wrestling is secondary. Bad call. Bad logic. You still love the wrestlers like The Undertaker, but hate the BS, and hate the mis-management.

No.
I think the following has ruined professional wreslting today:
-The media (they always push the idea that wrestling is "fake", and because of that, everyone who cannot develop an opinion of their own follows that message instead of respecting those who put their lives on the line to entertain)
-Fans (sometimes fans are too demanding, and some things in professional wrestling needs to be accepted as is, and most things happen for a reason).
-People who can't let go of the past (So what younger kids are watching? I bet most people in the Wrestling Section started watching as a kid. There are problems with it, but they don't diminish the product. It is people who cannot look past Stone Cold, The Rock, and Hulk Hogan who make it bad)

All the answers so far are wrong.
The main downfall of pro wrestling, oddly enough, is the internet.
Gone are the days where we just didn't know what was going on. You COULDN'T just get online and find the results of shows that haven't happened yet. Even with kayfabe gone, before the net you still had to wait to find out what happened.
Once the ability to find the endings before the start, we became more and more critical, started 2nd guessing the matches and the results, because we had time to talk about it and think about it. Once the matches became known, they no longer had an important bearing on the outcome of the shows we watched. Slowly over time, we knew the ending, so we wanted that ending to happen sooner and sooner. From there we wanted surprises to offset the endings we ALREADY knew about. Before we knew it, we had a 2 hour show that was an hour 20 of story line and 40 minutes of wrestling. Now that we have demanded the right as fans to second guess the writers, wrestlers, bookers, etc etc, we got what we asked for. And now that we have THAT, we are mad that we are not seeing great wrestling anymore.
We then have decided to blame the wrestlers, bookers, writers, owners, etc for these "bad shows" we get every week. I mean, in all fairness, how CAN a show be good if we KNOW the results before it happens? Its like going to a movies and before you go in to watch it you take 20 minutes to have the guy who just came out of the same movie tell you what happened in as much detail as he can give you. Do you REALLY think that at that point you are going to go in that theater and see a "great" movie, even if it IS a great movie?
You wont, because you already know the movie before you see it, and simply put, you cant see a great movie for the first time if you know all the details, because it really ISN'T the first time you seen it.
If you want wrestling to actually appear to be better, stop reading about it. Get online and talk about the shows, but don't read spoilers!
Also, us as fans, and especially smarks, should start taking our share of the blame for thinking we have some right to 2nd guess people who know WAY more than we every will about wrestling no matter HOW much we read about it. You DON'T have the right to say a match sucked when you ALREADY know how it is going to go down. you should NOT be purposely looking for a bad spot in a match either. Do you REALLY think ONE bad spot will ruin a match? If so, then every time you did something, if you made one mistake while doing it the result now SUCKS!
I am not trying to be a jerk, I am simply trying to let every one know what we need to do to fix things. We ALL claim we LOVE pro wrestling, well then we should start acting like we do.
Do not HATE on a guy for missing spot. Do what a fan should do and PROTECT that worker and make sure everyone knows what he DID DO right!
Do no 2nd guess a company. While you MAY be able to book ONE show better, or ONE match better, or ONE story line better, basically NONE of us can book a company, continuously better
Do not be stupid enough to think a specific wrestler isn't good simply because the gimmick he is in now has him doing certain things. Khali actually is NOT a bad worker, watch his stuff from Japan where he is allowed to do things. He does what he does in WWE NOT because that is ALL he can do, he does it because that is what he is TOLD to do!
On the same idea, Do not think a wrestler is good because he is on top all the time. UT is NOT a great worker, but HE IS in a good gimmick that gets him over. LEARN to see the differences in those last two things and you will better understand, like, and appreciate wrestling as a whole!
And lastly, DO NOT give the regular person more reasons to dog wrestling and its GREAT fans. Use your head. STOP being a "wrestler" on line and in life. Being a "heel" when you are not a wrestler simply is NOT funny, neat, or cool.

yes they have ruined wrestling...they are the ONLY reason why people like Cena , mysterio and batista get a push is because they are popular with little kids....if this was the attitude era you would see people like Kennedy and Orton as the best in the WWE
