Girls, I am a fashionable guy with a fit body and I like to have variety in what I wear, that includes my swimwear. I wear all kinds: boardshorts, square-cuts, swim briefs, etc. It just depends on my mood. The swim briefs that I wear are designer ones that you see at Saks or Neiman-Marcus, not what competitve swimmers wear. I also shave my legs, chest, arm pits and arms. I am definitely metrosexual. My question is, I have read responses from some other speedo questions, and a common answer from girls is that they don't like 'em because they "show too much". I find this hypocritical because what you girls wear leaves absolutely nothing to the imaginaton. When a girl wears her swimsuit I can clearly see the outline of her genitals and nipples. So why the hypocrisy? Why do girls go around wearing skimpy sexy swimwear but have a problem if a guy does it? Some guys are into fashion and like to look sexy too. I'm just curious to get some feedback.

I'm not a woman, but this is a good question and I gave it a
star. To me it has always seemed hypocritical too, and the
answers given by the girls above me also seem hypocritical.
If a person of either sex is in good shape, then he or she will
look good in a swim suit of any type - I have been told this by
women (not immature teen-aged girls). And a fat man in a
Speedo is no worse than a fat woman in a bikini; neither one
is eye candy! But it irritates me no end when a girl wearing
a bikini says guys should never wear brief swimwear, but
it's okay for her "because I'm a girl". If a male said anything
like that, he would be called sexist. I keep myself fit and
have been told by several times by women (again, not the
immature teeny boppers) that I do look good in a swim suit.
It makes my day when a bikini-clad lady about half my age
asks to be photographed with me; it has happened more
than once recently. (I did tell them I am happily married!)
I could go on, but don't want to rant - just that I couldn't agree
more with Brian! It seems as if the U.S. is the only country
where that silly hypocrisy occurs; others know better. By the
way, I'm in good shape and a good swimmer, and I don't buy
my swim suits to please the guys! Anyone who doesn't like it
can wear whatever he/she likes, and I won't complain. Brian
and any other males who keep fit should be able to do the
same. We shouldn't have to be ashamed of our fit bods!

You've made a good point. When I see a guy in a speedo, nine times out of ten, he shouldn't be wearing one. Same , of course , can be said about some girls in thong suits. But I agree with the other poster... a speedo looks like the guy is trying too hard. It's just cheesy looking, even if he has a buff body.

I think Lycra or Elastane Speedo brand are more durable. TYR seems a bit looser fitting. Coverage on both is virtually equal. I prefer Speedo over TYR, although I have some of both. I usually buy my suits off the clearance rack at the D&J Sports store I go to in Wichita, so sometimes you get Speedo, sometimes you get TYR.

The difference is men like to see a womans shape and out line in a bathing suit and women do not.
when you might like to look "sexy" women most often feel to uncomfortable with that much showing, we like things left to the imagination plus we would rather see a man in shorts as it makes them look more masculine and powerful which is much more sexy to our romantic side.

edit:
lol to the man beneath me as I am definitely not a teenager, what you have to understand is men can be "turned on" by looking at a woman's body, women do not (normally) get turned on by visual we like touch and our romantic (emotions) aroused. I love my husband but I don't get "turned on" seeing his body rather the way he treats me and touches me.
again we are different physically, emotionally and taste wise.
Anyone wishing to think that one standard should hold for two very different types of people is very naive.

than you shouldn't be noticing these things. we wear them because we dress to impress whereas when guys wear speedos its like the they want some and they are trying TOO hard.
