I've tried addressing things with my friend last year and instead of listening, or apologizing for her actions, she backpeddled and got extremely defensive. I tried to make this relationship work but the same stuff is still happening. Should I just ignore her or just tell her I'm done?

Let her know that you are done and then cut all ties if you truly want nothing more to do with her. However, since you were friends for so long, maybe there is a way to work things out because it is never easy to lose a long time friend. It is a decsion that should take a lot of time and thinking. Good Luck and do what you feel will be best.

I basically had the same problem this year. I tried talking, she tried to explain herself, but nothing changed.

Basically, find a new friend to spend your time with. Still talk to her sometimes and listen to her problems, because it's clear this girl is selfish. If you are civil with her, but become more and more distant, she may fight for you, or let you go a bit more. It avoids a fight and sticking around in something that just makes you feel crappy

Trust me, I know.

It takes two to make a friendship work, and since she is not listening or doing anything to show you that she wants to work things out with you, you should not try anymore. Give it time, and if she comes to you to work things out for real, great. If not, then you should let it be. A person can only try so much.

OMG I have the EXACT same problem. It's really hard with my friend because we get in SOOO many fights and the next day she acts like nothing happened. My friends are aware of this issue and they help me ignore her. She tries to talk to me but I try not to let her. I've forgiven her too many times and now it needs to stop. If your friend is gonna be like that tell her that it's over, i'm not gonna deal with this anymore, it's your loss. GL!!!

Send her a note telling her what is the problem, and that you tried to get her attention 1 year ago, but she dismissed you as if you werent that important to her. So you are sending this note to let her no that you are done, and that you wish her the best, but you are in a different place in your life.

Well, I believe in not burning bridges, when it comes to friendships. I think it's better to just distance yourself without officially ending the friendship. Don't ignore her, just don't confide in her or make plans with her very often... that way, you have space but do not haev to deal with the troubles of "dumping a friend"

You should just tell her you done or just don't say anything to her because that stuff gets annoying. If she isn't acting like a friend then she is not a friend don't kiss nobody a** just leave her alone.

I agree with that person who said slowly ween away from her. Here's how stop calling her as much, anytime she suggests you hangout together you should make an excuse. Make yourself busy let her see that you don't have time for a friendship that has nowhere to go.
