how much is the average welfare check for a single person (male or female) with two kids.
Single parent family..
Doing research...
Also, any info on subsideized housing would be appreciated.
Food stamps too.

You can call your local (or Chicago) Social Services office and ask them these questions, tell them you just want general figures and that you're doing research.

More than enough. Welfare is widely abused by people using it. People will claim dependents in multiple states by using familys living there. For example, family A lives in New York with 5 kids. Family B lives in Chicago with 3 kids. Both parents are of the same family, so both will claim the others kids in addition to their own in order for both of them to look like they have 8 kids. Meanwhile the taxpayers eat this cost.

Food stamps are no better. I've personally seen a woman in the grocery store be told that dog food cannot be purchased with food stamps. She then looked at her son and told him to go get 10lbs. of ground chuck beef to feed the dog. The cashier's jaw and mine dropped almost simultaneously.

There need to be better ways to track the abuse. I realize some people actually NEED welfare and food stamps. I don't have a problem with that. I do have problem with the abuse and lack of accountability.

welfare is about 240. food stamps is about 230. and we think we got it bad. i dont know hou they survive on that amount
