It's the US Bill of Rights Day (1791).
And in 1877 Thomas Edison patented the phonograph . . . and no Wally, I wasn't there!

Today begins my pre-birthday celebration. I'll be 54 yrs. young on Monday and Let the Party Begin! I spent most of my life being below poverty level as a child and as an adult if I had any money it was reserved for a meal and a few presents for my children.
But now it seems I've reached an age when my children are glad I gave birth to them, that I will babysit, dispense advice whether asked or not, always have room for one more to come home if/when they need/want to, not neat as _itchy as I was in my youth. So heck yea I start getting squirrely days in advance.
Hubby has a very expensive dentist visit for monday so I'm not shooting for a meal out or anything else. Just the love and adoration I get from my kids and him. Beats the hell out getting the hell beat out of ya...and I know all to well about that after an alcoholic marriage.

I just looked at my calendar since my memory isn't what is used to be. I think this is going to go down as the blizzard of 2007. Remember the blizzard of 78, Wally?

It's the only today you'll see in your lifetime-- all the rest will be tomorrows and you'll look back at today as yesterday, week, month or yesteryear. Of course tomorrow you may refer to the day as today, but you'll know in your heart that it isn't. -- in fact today will be merely yesterday. Special ? most assuredly. (on the calendar, or in real life)

Yeah, my first S.S. check in three months is due. I checked the bank on line this a.m., but nothing yet. Probably won't know until Monday. They have really messed up my benefits. I hope they pay this month.
