Don't worry about it. Everyone is different. Most of my friends and family have put that many just on one store and they had several other stores registered. Someone will always complain with those registry things. When my husband and I got married we put 80 things on ours and they said it was not enough. Go figure.

I think that anything you may want for the baby is appropriate. People may see that you want a more expensive item and just give you a gift card to go towards that item. If you get a few gift cards, you can get it no problem. Also, the thing that I used the most from my shower was diapers. The only problem with this is...you will see that you don't like particular brands and then you are stuck using them even if you don't like it. It does save a lot of money for you though. Also, a good item to have is a first aid kit. It comes w/ grooming items, the bulb for their nose, thermometer, comb, etc. Lotions, baby wash, etc were great items too. My baby is 5 1/2 months old and I am still using what i got at the shower.

My registry had like 30 items, mostly all the essential stuff because we didn't want to add clothes and little things because they should be more personalized. Like we ended up getting a bib from my dad and a teddy bear and I cacn always look back and say grandpa picked that out especially for you. It's up to you how much you want to put on it.
We only got a few items from the registry, everything else was gift cards and cash. We mainly just had the registry so we would know what to get after the shower and to give us an idea of how much we would end up spending. Have fun!

I had about 25 things on mine and my family told me that it wasn't nearly enough. I say to just put what you feel you like one it, it doesn't matter if it's twenty things, or two hundred things. You would want to give people plenty of options, so feel free to scan away! Make sure to include those things that are at a lower price too, so people don't assume that you are only looking for big ticket items. This way those who are looking at your registry that don't have that much to spend can have a better chance to find something you'll like that won't break the bank.

I think it depends on what percentage of your list you want to receive. If your list is just covering the things you really need to receive as gifts because you don't necessarily have the funds to purchase them yourself then you'll need to have a high percentage of your list purchased for you in gifts. If you are inviting 20 people to your shower who will all buy from your list, then 30-40 items will give you a return percentage of 50-75%.
On the other hand, if you have enough money to buy whatever essentials you don't receive as gifts then you can have a much smaller return off your list and still be able to get for yourself whatever you still need. The same 20 guests with a list of 156 items might get you only a 10% return off the total amount on your list, but you'll have given your guests much more freedom in choosing a gift off your list.
Many people who shop off a registry go into it with the thought of wanting to get something that the couple really *needs* for the baby. Those people will prefer a shorter list of actual baby essentials.
Another idea is to divide up your items between a couple of stores, one list could be "needs" and the other could be "really cute things that we just really want to have."

I couldn't tell you what an average amt would be, however, if someone makes a comment the same I would just say that you are not only using it as a baby registry for your shower, but for a list for what you need to get before the baby comes. Like a shopping list for you and your husband to go shopping AFTER the shower. OR you can tell them just like you said you wanted to have a lot of different options on there, or BOTH!

babies need a lot of things. you could never have too much when it comes to a newborn. Besides everyone doesn't follow a registry some people buy whatever they want or think is cute. But when doing a registry I would put all the necessities first and then I would think about whats cute.

The best kind of registry is the kind that covers all different price ranges and items. What might be cool to give as a gift for 1 might not be for another so they would be more inclined to get that or the other. You are starting from ground zero and going to need all that stuff anyways whether they get it for you or you get it yourself. Have fun and congrats!!

I think anything that a baby needs should go on the registry and what ever people don't buy, just buy it your self. That's what my husband and I did, we put things on there that we knew for sure people wouldn't buy, but we would get an extra 10% off if we bought the rest of the stuff.

It always helps me for my expecting friends and family to have lots of stuff on the list. Many items could be on sale. Also when there is more to pick from it makes it easier for me to know what to get.
When the registry only has like 10 items. I usually get a gift card......which is so impersonal.....but I dont want to duplicate gifts, and I really am NOT going on a hunt for certain limited gifts.
