well u basically find the common denomantor to find the values of X and Y. so then u just multiply the side where the x over four is by two to equal 2x/8=y/8 then u just simply multiply by eight so then ur left with 2x=y. then basically plug in 2x=y for Y on ur very first equation so it would be x/4=2x/8. therefore your answer for X equals 1 then plug that in for 2x=y thus y equals two if you check it out you will see it works now u want to find x over y just simply plug 1 for x and 2 for y and there you go x over y equals 1/2

x/4 = y/8

divide by y

(x/y)(1/4) = 1/8

multiply with 4

x/y = 4/8 = 1/2

x/4 = y/8 multiply each side by 4
x = 4y/8 simplify
x= y/2

x/y - y/2 over y = 1/2

My guess is 4X/Y.

2X= Y/8, y= 2X
X=1/2Y
