I can't remember how to figure that out on a calculator.

Reading as $42 after 20% off:-
80%<--->$42
100%<--> (100/80) x $42 = 5/4 x $42 = $210/4
$52.50

Question 2
Reading as $42 before 20% off:-
100%<---->$42
80%<-----> (80/100) x $42 = (4/5) x $42
$168 / 5
$33.60

42 x 20%= 42/1x 1/5=42/5=8 2/5=8.4

42-8.4=33.6

On a calculator, you would do......42 divided by 100 to get 1% that=0.42 then you do that multiplied by 20-cause its 20% and the answer would be 8.4- you then do 42-8.4 that = 33.60

Look

20% off menas (100-20) =80%

So, 100% is giving ----> 42
1% is giving-----> 42/100
80% is giving----> 42*80/100
=33.6

just do 42 mulitpled by .2 and then subtract 42 from that answer.
so you get 42-8.4 which is then 33.6

42-8.40=
$33.60
