I love fruitcake but I know why so many people don't like the stuff.
It's got quite a few different textures,is very sweet and has a bit of an "old lady" treat backbite. It crumbles when you eat it and is messy. It can be ponderous and chewy too at the same time. Some folk resent the laxative effect of the dried fruit.
I've had some amazing ones though. My very favourite was a Bahamian dark fruit cake that had been aged in rum. Most delicious and very filling.

I used a fruitcake to hold my battery cable against my corroded car battery one year but I've never tasted one. I just closed the hood and smashed it in there.

I dont like it because of all the negative remarks it gets. I have actually never had one before but just because like every christmas movie makes fun of them I will probably never try one.

The name says it all. I'm willing to eat fruit or cake, but the two don't belong together.
