- There are 2 types of igneous rocks: intrusive and extrusive. Intrusive igneous rocks have large mineral crystals because they cooled slowly deep in the crust. Extrusive igneous rocks have small mineral crystals or look glass because the cooled very quickly on the surface of Earth.

- Sedimentary rocks are formed from the broken down bits of other rocks. You can usually identify grains that are worn down. There are also chemical sedimentary rocks like limestone and coquina.

- Metamorphic rocks occur when other rocks are subjected to heat and/or pressure but do not melt. If you pressurize and heat limestone you will get marble. If you heat and pressurize granite you will get gneiss. If you heat and pressurize shale you will get slate.

- As for uses (I assume you mean commercial-type uses) you can look those up on a web search. I also encourage you to look up the rock cycle. It will show you how all the rocks types are related and how they can go back and forth. You can also look up pictures of different rock types to see how they differ for identification.

OK, igneous rocks are good for skipping on ponds, sedementary rocks are good for paper weights, and metamorphic rocks are good for throwing at cows.

You can tell them apart by looking at the labels.
