A rat eating dinosaur that hates human meat. They are rare and can be rented from any McDonald's. Plus, when they have done their job, they are good eating themselves. They taste like chicken...

I dont think there is anything you can just let loose in the house that will be able to feed itself. I mean ferrets hate rats, and will kill them, but they need to be fed since they dont exactly eat the rats. Cats do a good job at getting rid of rats, and will even eat the rats as food if they have to, but they only tend to attack the rats that come out of the walls, and dogs too... I had a bloodhound/shepard mix who used to kill any rodent type of animal he seen trying to enter the house. Snakes if you wanted to use a snake yes they only eat every at the most two weeks depending on the size of the meal they hunt, but if its actual rats you would need to have a fairly large size snake because rats will attack snakes, and can cause the snake to fear eating them, it happened to my snake with just feeding it baby rats, he wouldnt eat for a few months... I had to help him catch his food by holding its tail so it couldnt run around... if he felt the rat touch him he would curl up, and avoid it, and I couldnt feed him dead ones so that can become complicated. Plus if your just going to set the snake loose you need to make sure where you live isnt too cold, if its below 75 they tend to hybernate, or at least go into a state where they wont eat. I think your best bet would be a cat... if you let the cat outside you wont need a litterbox for it, and the food tends to be pretty cheap to feed it if you buy the right brand so its affordable, and definitely will keep the rats out of the house if nothing else once they realize the cat is living there.

Dream on. If it exist we would already know about it. Actually by introducing an animal do to your pest removal you maybe getting in to even more of a problem. After all, what do you do with the thing once all the rats are gone. It would probably be less bothersome to just go ahead and call an exterminator.

A ferret, a cat or a terrier. Owls are pretty good too but don't like the indoors so much.
