If you've ever tripped unexpectedly, run into a wall, or slipped on some ice, you know how mortifying it can be, especially if it happens in front of a group of people. So, is there anything you can say afterwards to recover your cool? Or something you do to play it off casually? "Ow, that hurt!" just sounds so cheesy

These things happen quite often to me. With age, I've learned that NO there is really is not a way to recover your cool. I just usually try to pick my scarred pride up- and run away. Really, the ability to laugh at myself, is how I handle these things. Others are laughing, I might as well join them.

Well one time i was at a club's outside smoking area, and being pretty drunk at the time I thought it would be a good idea to lean on the railing to you know, look cool (i'm an idiot i know). Turns out the railing wasn't attached to anything and i fell over backwards with all the bouncers and about 100 people watching! Was sooo embarissing but you had to just laugh it off. Me and my friends were laughing about it for ages. You can't laugh at a joke unless you can laugh at yourself first =)

If you start laughing right away it seems to bring out the compassion in others and then you get a barrage of are you OK!
