Is lying about torture as bad as lying about oral sex with an intern?

I say let the FBI, CIA, NSA or what ever other agency do their jobs. Anyway they have to do it. Those middle east countries don't care about the Geneva Conference rules. So why do we? In my mind, to get the right answers to get to the terrorists, sometimes we have to resort to physical tactics to retrieve the answers. Have you ever had to be in a combat situation with a terrorist? What would you do in that situation? And leave Clinton alone, it's a dead subject and not related to this one in anyway, shape or form. Terrorism and sexual misconduct are not in the same distinction.

Depends what the definition of "is" is.

Actually, it depends if the lying took place before a grand jury or not. If so, then it is just as bad. My opinion of "tape-gate" as you call it, is that if they did not have legal obligation to save the tapes then destroying them was not wrong. If they did have a legal obligation to save the tapes, then it was wrong to destroy them.

But while I am not generally in favor of torture, my cousin was killed in WTC on 9/11 and if torturing some terrorist would have prevented that tragedy, then I would be in favor of it. Just my personal opinion. I respect all that may disagree with me.

First of all, NO LAWS were broken. The tapes were legally destroyed. Pelosi and Reid were among the libs that had seen the tapes. Its actually no big deal. We dont want our enemies to somehow obtain these tapes and see how we operate. Once again, its just a case of the liberal media and liberals in general trying to drum up some kind of charges against our President and VP.

How can it be a lie when all of these government officials from both sides of the aisle already seen them, years ago??

By the way, it wasnt that Clinton lied to the American people about Monica, its that he lied in a court of law, under oath about one of his many extra-marital affairs.

how does the press get to know these things ? more importantly, why should they know ?? who's doing the leaking ?? why do different govt depts have different agendas ?? what's with the bickering and turf wars ?? i thought we were all on the same team ?? what in the world are we doing to ourselves ???

our enemies are using our freedoms against us....wake up America....we value human life. our enemies don't. the days of gentleman duels are long gone... sometimes it is necessary to do a little bit of evil in order to achieve a greater good...( bombing of dresden, hiroshima/nagasaki)...welcome to the human race.

it WAS illegal to destroy the tapes because the CIA was subject to a court order to make them public. it's unknown just what the content on the tapes was but it makes one wonder, those tapes must have shown something really bad.
