Factoring is all about finding common members of all terms. The only commonality to the first one are the numbers, so try to pull some out:
36x -30y-42z

6(6x-5y-7x)

For the second, the only one member common to each term is d, so:

2cd-3de+4d

d(2c-3e+4)

I hope that helps!

36x - 30y - 42z =
(6*6)x - (6*5)y - (6*7)z =
6 * (6x - 5y - 7z)

2cd - 3de + 4d =
d * (2c -3e + 4)
