Yes it is a sin no doubt. Illicit sex is a sin and one can get bad karmic reactions for that. According to the Vedas one should be chased to their husband or wife. Why not just be satisfied with what God gave you and be faithful in mind as well. If you continue to not control your mind, you could then act on the whims of your mind and create a huge mess in your life. Keep life simple and appreciate what you have and stop hankering after more than your lot in life. Be satisfied. This is the way of a real yogi. Be satisfied. If you are not then know there is much self work to do. Reading Bhagavad Gita as it is BY Bhaktivedanta Prabhpada will teach one the art and science of controlling the mind and senses and becoming free from bondage. It is a type of bondage to chase after the minds whims or allow the mind to contemplate what ever it likes. The human beings are to control their mind not let it control you . You are not your mind.
