The temperamental bowler struggled with fitness in the last two Tests after taking six wickets in a losing cause in the first game in Delhi, finishing with just nine scalps, averaging 33.11. Imran made his comments in an Indian TV channel on Wednesday.

Akhtar said: "Imran Khan, who is a man and former player I admire and respect greatly, singled me out in his television analysis and said I should be disappointed with myself. I realise he was being kind in saying I am a match-winner, but I can't win Test matches on my own." Akhtar bemoaned the absence of injured new ball bowlers Mohammad Asif and Umar Gul.
"Imran had players like (leg spinner Abdul) Qadir and Wasim (Akram) to back him up or Sarfraz (Nawaz) before those days," he said.

Imran Khan being a cricket legend shouldn't have made that criticism. He knows a lot about cricket and knows very well that pointing out a single player for a team's defeat is totally unfair.

As far as my opinion is concerned the entire team is responsible for the defeat.

Kamran Akmal : Worst keeping

Younus Khan : Lacks firing captaincy

Mohammad Yousuf : Always sleeping inside the field.

Salman Butt : Played to increase his numbers not for team's victory.

With these facts blaming a single player for the team's defeat is totally injustice.

I agree with Montitude on this one(wonders will never cease!) But I have great respect & admiration for Imran, nonetheless. All too easy to blame 1 player or the coach, when it's the whole team who under performs.

I think i am going to support Akhtar for the first time.lol
He was the best bowler from Pakistan in this series . Apart from him all others were ordinary.
It's wrong to ssingle out one player .

I think the fault is of Pakistan team management, they made some poor selections in this series. Akhtar wasn't fit for second test and they selected him. That decision backfired & they could have lost second test. Misbah saved them in that match.
Yousuf did nothing in the series. Why not blame him?
Why only Shoaib?

Akthar is not responsible for Pakistan's loss.
As a player he had done his duty perfectly even after he was ill, but why couldnt the other players play well on that day?

I totally agree with what Akthar has said, he dint have another attacking bowler in the side other than him, & he alone cannot win a test match for the team.

He did his job well but the other players failed to perform well.

Cheers!

Aktar has struggled with injury problems throughout India series. He should not have been agreed to be in the side when he is half fit. That way he disappointed his supporters.

No he is not!

Cricket is a team game.
Though one person at times can change the outcome of a game but he too needs support from his fellow team mate.

I am agree and no doubt Sachin Tendulkar is best cricketer in both the format as he has 47 hundered in ODI and 51 in test cricket and having highest runs in both the format and this show that he is best.

Imran was expecting too much from Shoaib, but shoaib wasn't totally fit at all, that's why.if shoaib was totally fit, then anything had happened.

cricket is a TEAM sport if one player does bad the whole team SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED bad if one player did good then the team isn't considered good to have a good team eveyone must contribute their own share it can not be one person if you blame one person for your loss it is just a cheap excuse saying that they should practice more to win as a TEAM
