-She's an orphan.
-She's a teacher/governess.
-Her family (aunt and cousins) make her suffer.
-She works in Thornfield Manor.
-Her boss is Mr Rochester, whom she eventually marries.
-Mr Rochester has a mad wife which kept locked in the attic.
-Jane's once proposed by a missionary worker who wants to take her to India.
-Mr Rochester's mad wife burns his manor and committed suicide.
-He was crippled and lost his eyesight.
-Jane takes him as her husband anyway and they live happily ever after.

If you like a bit of lateral thinking, try reading Jean Rhys' 'Wide Sargasso Sea' (a tale of the first Mrs Rocester)
