I can hear water running underneath the passenger side dash and up to a week ago I had heat and the temp gauge worked fine. Yesterday the radiator was bone dry as well as the reserve and I have had no heat for about four days now. dont know werther its the thermostat or the heater core? any suggestions?

check the passenger floor see if it's wet right under the dash if so your heater cores has a leak in it and it's leaking all of the water out of it. it will make you windows steam up and you can't get it to clear and you will smell antifreeze smell inside the cab if you use antifreeze don't let any animals get any of the antifreeze it will kill them

The water is definitely going somewhere. You will have to look to see.
Could be a leaking heater core. Do you have a waxy film on the windshield inside of the truck? Then the core is leaking.

I would say thermostat yes, heater core yes. But your best bet is to have it checked by a certified mechanic. Most garages can listen to what you have wrong, and give you an idea of where to start. For free. But I am betting, you are going to have to change your thermostat first.

it sounds like you have a bad thermostat and a bad water pump if there is no water in the radiator

Themostat problem? maybe a problem with hoses leak?! (empty radiator problem) maybe water pump? maybe just a sensor problem...radiator could have crack as well the weather?
