Great first step. Our legal system is to corrupt and inefficient to trust it with the power of life and death.

Doesn't bother me one way or the other. I don't live in NJ, and my state (MN) already doesn't allow the death penalty.

Overall, I feel the death penalty in it's current form is a waste of money. With all the appeals that they get, they stay alive for many, many years, all on the tax payers dollar. They need to streamline the process, and make the time from conviction and sentencing to the actual execution a lot shorter.

Also, in the current form, it isn't much of a deterrent. They need to make the execution public so people can actually see first hand what happens. If you just hear about an execution, it really doesn't sink in. But if you actually see someone executed, you may then have second thought on committing a crime that will get the death penalty. And if it doesn't make you think twice, you don't deserve to live anyway.
