Did you enjoy it? Did you make any money?

For those who don't know, I meant the making money thing because when I was a kid I used to go carol singing with the Brownies (Girl Guides for little ones) and we used to ask for donations for charity from the people we sang for.

It was quite good fun, I suppose, although I remember it being very cold and we got rained on a lot.

I have a terrible voice, but I do like music.
No carolers would let me near if they heard me, they'd make me hum if I were lucky.
But I'm no good at that either, but I'd love to do it once !.

Yes, when my friend and I were in our teens we used to go carol singing. We were in the school choir and so had nice voices. We gave value for money; at least two songs. Not like today when all you get from the kids is a knock on the door and one line of "We wish you a merry Christmas." A right poor do in my opinion.

Yes, where I grew up we had Christmas Card weather the week leading up tp Christmas, we would start out with just a few of us kids in the neighborhood, before long older brothers, sisters, then parents would join in. We usually just stayed within our few block neighborhood, but it would take a couple of hours because people would have special requests, and yes they would offer hot cocoa and cookies. After a couple of years some of the older neighbors would check to see if we would be there that year. Yes we enjoyed it very much, but I don't understand "making money' from it.

I went Carol singing with a bunch of friends when we were 15. We said we were collecting for a cancer charity and managed to get into the pub and get served. So the 'charity' money went to a good cause but not quite as good as it should have done. You know confession is good for the soul, I now feel cleansed!

Yeah I've gone the past two years with all my friends! It's our tradition, and actually today is going to be our third time. It's always fun, but we don't make any money. We always go ice skating first, then eat at Panera, then get Starbucks, and then go carolling. I'm gonna miss it next year when I go to college : (

It's definitely worth trying it around your neighborhood...but you might wanna find some friends who sing really well before you head out!

I have to say that my voice is like someone with his ball bag caught in his zip. Last time I went carol singing people were throwing money at me to move on to the next house or shut up completely.

When I was young, my friends and I used to belt it out during Christmas. We made barely enough to make it worthwhile.
