I'm doing a project and I need an LED light. I need a small one that has two wires sticking out the back. Are there any items that almost any household would have that cointain a small, white LED light.

Radio Shack has bare LEDs. Or you can go to a hardware store and most of them have cheap LED flashlight keychains in bins at the register. It's cheaper to buy a bare LED though, and Radio Shacks are almost as common as hardware stores.

White LED lights only recently became practical, so they are not yet in common household use. You might find an LED flashlight or camping lantern, or a power indicator on an appliance like a DVD player or a Series 2 TiVo DVR.

If you want cheap LEDs and it doesn't matter about focus etc I've found it to be cheaper to buy a string of LED fairy lights and cut the holder open to extract the LEDs. It requires a little work, but often works out cheaper than purchasing individual LEDs at retail prices.

If you have a Harbor Freight store nearby, go there. They have some really cheap LED keychain lights with batteries included.
