It`s usually because someone in front doesn`t know how to fill out the forms. Our education system could use an overhaul.

The reason lines are so long at the DMV is:
1) The population has grown, and
2) Many people are turning 16 to get their licenses, and
3) The DMV still only has two (2) employees behind the counter and one (1) employee is always on break or lunch.
I am sometimes tempted to put a mirror under the DMV employee's nose to make sure he/she is still alive and breathing----they move soooooo slow.

Numerous reasons & all are annoying:
*they never seem to have enough people scheduled!
*someone doesn't know how to fill out a form cuz they're an idiot
*someone doesn't have the proper paperwork & try to argue with or talk the employee into going forward anyway
*everyone waits til the same time....usually the beginning or end of the month & at lunch time instead of taking half a vacay day or something
*some processes are just more time-consuming than others

because people are stupid! jk.
a lot of people don't know what they need when they get there and need help.
i once had a guy twice my age ask me how to register a car.
actually, the 16 year olds i come across in the DMV usually have more than they need to get a license. they're probably just excited.

There are to many people who go in there without the right things or don't have the exact amount of money to pay fees. Some don't speak a lick of English so sometimes it takes a bit longer.

The beginning and the end of the month are the busiest. You can even do a lot of transactions online. I think it's just busy people getting things done at the last minute.
