in the world? I would be hard pressed to choose, but there is one that I would so love to see. It is called Fallingwater, and it is in Western Pennsylvania. It is by an architect called Frank Lloyd-Wright. Has anyone seen it?

Yeah really like that one, the idea of a river running through your house is so cool.

Favourite, architect is actually and engineer, Santiago Calatrava, unbelievable sculptures. Also Really like Calo Scarpa, the way everything has to have a purpose, and be designed even down to a shelf.
Best Office building comes close between greenpeice headquarters london, and ING bank in Amsterdam, the running water in the open handrail is a nice touch.

I have seen pics of the Fallingwater house and also on TV. I love Frank Lloyd-Wright houses.
Santiago Calatrava creates some magical structures.
I also would love to visit the Opera House in Sydney.
But there are so many in Florence that I would love to see in person. Also the Mayan ruins. I cannot possibly name a favorite.

No, but have seen and admired the Guggenheim Museum in NY, which is one of FLW's most famous. I love many of the previous nominations: Durham Cathedral, Golden Gate Bridge, Sydney Opera House, also Chrysler Building in NY and the Daniel Lipskind building for the London Metropolitan University in - yes - Holloway Rd ! Check it out. Lipskind won the competition to re-build on Ground Zero, but his design will never be built - too modern apparently - go figure. But I walk past his masterpiece in the Holloway Rd regularly.

Westminster Cathedral in London. Inside and out it is the most interesting place I have ever seen. Also, the new Coventry church built next to the old one is beautiful. The stained glass windows are exquisite. The destruction of this town was a heart rending decision made during WWII to save other places.

That was my answer, boo hoo. You already took my answer. I have seen it and that is one fantastic house. If I can't choose that one, how about the house Bilbo Baggins lived in in the Lord of the Rings movie. It is a real house in either Napa or Sonoma, California. I cannot remember which but I went by it once, before the movie was made and as a rammed earth house it was cool!

The Taj Mahal. From pictures, I knew it was beautiful, but when I saw it in person, I was stunned. It is completely beautiful. the proportions, the setting, the colors, the building material, everything is breathtaking. I was fortunate enough to have seen it on two occasions in the full moon at night, and it just glows.

The museum of art in milwaukee. Fantastic structure.

[add] I've not seen that one, but I live in chicago where alot of his architecture is. Mies Van der Rohe was his mentor. Alot of good stuff from those two.

[add] The MAM is a Santiago Calatrava.

I am not the least bit religious but my favourite has to be Durham Cathedral. It's dimensions are in keeping with the dimensions of the average human so when you are in it it feels so comfortable and despite it's size not in the least overwhelming
