More a question for the Scots, but anyone can answer!

Do you think Scots Gaelic should be introduced through schools and that instead of learning other languages from, say 4 years old, they should be learning the language of their own country? Or do you think there is no point and other languages would be more useful? If the Irish and the Welsh speak their Gaelic, why shouldn't the Scots?

All opinions around this subject welcome!
Thanks

Languages are taught (in my opinion) to give our children an edge or at least a level playing field when it comes to international business.

Living on an island has made us lazy, despite the fact just about everyone on the planet speaks english we simply don't bother to even try.
When it comes to big business, being unable to communicate could mean the loss of billions of pounds, the longer we live this insular life, the more we will suffer in Europe and all over the world.

Although i see the point your trying to make, i just don't think that learning Scottish Gaelic will make the slightest difference.

I'm English, but yes I think they should. The biggest point of learning a language is the process of learning it (once you have learned one, it becomes easier to learn others) not the end product itself, so why not use it to promote national identity (although that is something of a bad concept these days).

I think everyone should learn the language of their own country,it may not be useful in the long run and because of this it could be looked upon as a waste of school resources but I think they should have the choice.I'm English by the way.

Yes I think the language should be introduced,
It's very sad to see that it's slowly dying out these days.

Thank you :)
Interesting question.

What do you mean? Have English as a second language?

Don't lumber the kids with a language which they will never use
